Meet the Principal

Welcome families and friends. My name is Julie White and I am honored to join Emma Smith Elementary as the principal for the 2025–2026 school year. With over two decades of experience in education, I am deeply committed to creating a supportive and engaging environment where every student can thrive.

My career in education began in 2004 at Manchester Community Schools, where I served for 19 years in a variety of roles. I started as a speech-language pathologist and later took on several administrative positions, including Vice Principal and Special Education Supervisor. In 2023, I joined Fowlerville Community Schools as a Student Support Specialist, further expanding my experience working with students, families, and staff. These diverse roles have given me a well-rounded perspective and a strong foundation for school leadership.

My approach to education centers on collaboration, inclusion, and continuous growth—for both students and staff. I believe in building strong relationships and fostering a positive school culture where every child feels seen, supported, and empowered.  This philosophy matches that of Smith. The Smith team has been working very diligently to create robust instructional opportunities for all students, creating a positive environment though a PBIS program called “Panther Pride” and implementing MTSS to assure all students needs are identified and met.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband David and our blended family of four children: Lauren, Haley, Alex, and Abby. We moved to Livingston County in 2022 and are currently in the middle of an exciting (and sometimes chaotic!) renovation project on our 13-acre property. It's been a rewarding journey, much like education—full of hard work, learning, and pride in the progress we make together.

I look forward to connecting with the Emma Smith community and working together to make this an incredible school year!  Please reach out via email, phone or set up an appointment to meet in person.
